Chinese guitarist Hao Yang, 18, entered the Curtis Institute of Music in 2014 and studies with renowned guitarists David Starobin and Jason Vieaux.
Ms. Yang has won top prizes in numerous guitar competitions. She is the fourth prize winner of the Guitar Foundation of America International Concert Artist Competition and the first prize winner of the Youth Competition. She was awarded first prizes in both high school and college divisions at the Columbus State University International Guitar Competition. She is also the first prize winner of the Andres Segovia 7thInternational Guitar Competition.
Ms. Yang has been invited to perform at music festivals including the Cleveland, Panama, and Beijing International Guitar festivals. She has performed concerts in major venues such as Miller Theatre, Princeton Sound Kitchen, and Subculture NYC. As a chamber musician, Ms. Yang has made her Carnegie Hall debut in 2015, premiering duo piece ‘Talking Guitars’ by world renowned composer Paul Lansky and recorded it with the Grammy award winning label Bridge Records Inc.
