Charles Parker, violinist, has studied with some of the most renowned teachers in the field, including Ivan Galamian, Paul Zukofsky, Isidore Cohen, and Helen Kwalwasser. At the age of 15, he was invited to join the School Orchestra of America, a People to People program in Washington, DC for a European tour of nine countries. That experience cemented his involvement with the violin and music. Along with his studio at Settlement Music School, he also teaches at Haverford College, Bryn Mawr College, and Temple Music Prep. He has been the coordinator of chamber music for Temple Music Prep’s Center for Gifted Young Musicians since its inception in 1985. A member of the Opera Philadelphia Orchestra, he also performs regularly with the Pennsylvania Ballet Orchestra, Orchestra 2001, and other Philadelphia organizations. He was the Artistic Director and violinist of the Davidsbund Chamber Players, has toured internationally with The New York Chamber Players, and was a core member of The Vermont Mozart Festival for over 25 years. Enjoying the variety of experiences as a freelance musician, he has also been on hundres of recordings from disco hits in the late 70’s to more recent hits by Justin Timberlake, Jennifer Lopez, Sean “Diddy” Combs, and Lana Dl Rey. He was the recipient of Temple Music Prep’s “Inspiration Award” in 2011.
