Arthur Judson Distinguished Faculty Chair
Sandra Carlock is in demand in the U.S. and abroad as a performer and artist teacher. She is a graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory (BM), SUNY at Stony Brook (MM), with further graduate work at the Juilliard School, NYC, studying with Rosina Llhevinne, Martin Canin and Arthur Dann. Sandra’s frequent performances in England and Europe include numerous concerts on British early piano collections. She is an authority on the music of Clara Schumann and Edward MacDowell and has presented lecture recitals featuring their music at Juilliard, Oxford University, and others. Her recent CD, “Piano Music of Edward MacDowell,” was released to great critical acclaim by SOMM Recordings, London. She was the first artist ever to perform MacDowell’s music at Troldhaugen, the Bergen, Norway home of MacDowell’s mentor, Edvard Grieg. Sandra has taught piano and chamber music at SMS for the past 42 years, where she holds the Arthur Judson Distinguished Faculty Chair in Piano. Her recordings can be heard on radio stations WRTI, Philadelphia; WQXR, NYC; and Classic FM, London.
