Scott Slezak graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education. After starting his art career in Pittsburgh, he moved to Philadelphia, where he began to apprentice as a furniture finisher and began writing and performing original music. When Scott’s daughter was born, he left work to be a full-time, stay-at-home dad. Scott began babysitting for other families and was a play-group supervisor for the South Eastern Pennsylvania Mental Health Association. Scott’s daughter was enrolled in the Kaleidoscope program at Settlement Music School, and he was so impressed with the program he began to volunteer in the classrooms two days a week, and wanted more. He went back to school to study Early Childhood Education and became a substitute art and classroom teacher, and was then brought on as a full-time Kaleidoscope teacher after several years. Scott is currently pursuing his Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education at Chestnut Hill College.
