Zausmer Program Manager of the Kardon Center for Arts Therapy

Teresa is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Pennsylvania, Registered Art Therapist (ATR), and Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS). She graduated with a Masters in Art Therapy from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Teresa works in collaboration with each individual in the therapeutic relationship to identify areas that are inhibiting quality of life and focus on building existing strengths and new skills to work through these areas. She uses various materials and media in sessions, based on individual interests and needs.

Prior to joining Settlement Music School as the manager of the Kardon Center for Arts Therapy, Teresa worked with adults who have survived brain injuries and strokes, as well as adults who are experiencing mental health issues. She started and developed the art therapy component of a brain injury rehabilitation program in Chicago, IL, where she conducted two research studies on the efficacy of ceramic wheel-throwing in brain injury rehabilitation. She also worked in an inpatient behavioral health unit in Chicago, outpatient community-based brain injury program in New Jersey, and a private practice in Pennsylvania. When not at Settlement, Teresa enjoys teaching ceramics at a community art school and making her own ceramic work in her studio.
