I was surrounded by music from when I was a toddler and I was 5 years old when I began piano lessons in Scranton, Pennsylvania with Anne Vanko Liva. Mrs Liva told me that I had a special gift – I had both talent and intelligence. The highlight of my career was performing in Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall in 2001 and I always remembered what Mrs. Liva had told me during my first lessons. While classical piano was my main focus, I loved accompanying my middle and high school choirs in Scranton and then Pittsburgh area high school and community musical rehearsals, shows and choir concerts while I was in college and early in my arts administration career. Accompanying gave me the freedom and the challenge to anticipate and support artists on a “solo” instrument.
