Students & Parents
Welcome to your home for Settlement Music School students and parents!
Settlement is designed with the entire family in mind, from activities best suited for toddlers and elementary school students to experiences for high schoolers, parents and adult learners. It is a place where all kids can feel like they’re part of a special group that is supportive and creative. Financial aid and scholarship support enable everyone to learn at Settlement.
COVID-19 Policies and Procedures
During our closure, we strongly recommend that all of our students continue their learning with their teacher virtually through Skype for Business or Microsoft Teams.
- Tablet, laptop, or smartphone (yes, you can use your phone—please use Wi-Fi as it is faster and less expensive than wireless data)
- Video and sound capability through your device of choice
- High speed internet access (some Internet Service Providers are offering special access options during this time—Comcast has opened its Xfinity Wi-Fi Network for free nationally, and is offering two months of free internet to new, low-income Internet Essentials customers)
To learn more about downloading, installing, and participating in a digital lesson, please review our Distance Learning Handbook for Skype for Business or our Distance Learning Handbook for Microsoft Teams (available in multiple languages below). Please note, Settlement uses Skype for Business for distance learning and not Skype, which is a distinct and separate application. Students will not be able to join their instructor for a digital lesson using Skype. Skype for Business is free to download and install. You will not need to create an account but just join as a guest.
