Part-time Security & Cleaning Specialist | Willow Grove Branch

Founded in 1908 Settlement Music School, a non-profit organization, is one of the largest community schools of the arts in the United States serving children and adults of all ages at five branches in Pennsylvania located in South, West and Northeast Philadelphia, Germantown, Willow Grove, and its virtual branch, Settlement Music Online. Settlement provides over $3 million dollars each year in financial aid and scholarships to fully 60% of its students. Settlement’s reach is broad, and it continues the principles of its Founders, that there be no barriers to participating in music and arts education. 

Settlement Music School is one of only 18 community schools of the arts in the country that has national accreditation through ACCPAS – the Accrediting Commission of Community and Precollegiate Arts School. 

 

Position: Part-time Security 

Hours: Tuesday, Wednesday 4:30-9:30pm, Saturday 8am -2:30pm from September through June. July and August hours tbd.  

Reports to: Branch Director and Director of Maintenance 

Location: 318 Davisville Road, Willow Grove PA 

Position Overview 

Settlement is looking for a part-time Security & Cleaning Specialist at our Willow Grove Branch. The staff would be responsible for the safety and security of the branch, including performing regular security checks throughout the entire branch.  

Key Responsibilities 

  • Completing routine security checks around branch and branch grounds by walking hallways, stairways, and outside grounds of the Willow Grove building.
  • Reporting incidents and areas of security concern to the Branch Director or Director of Maintenance, collaborating on security improvements for the safety of all.
  • Respond to safety and security concerns/incidents in a calm and professional manner. 
  • Observing branch conditions and reporting any needed repairs or safety hazards 
  • Assuring all security and fire alarm systems are operating properly. 
  • Cleaning and servicing of restrooms throughout the branch if needed.

Qualifications 

  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules. 
  • Ability to operate and use janitorial tools, equipment, and supplies such as vacuum cleaners, cleaning compounds, and solutions. 
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, and talk for an extended period of time.  
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds, bend, reach and stand for extended periods. 
  • Interviewed candidates must pass state and federal criminal background checks and PA Child Abuse History Clearances. 
  • Minimum 3 years of related work experience. 

Compensation: $15.30 per hour
