Playformance Park Concert Series Ft. Settlement Alumnus Kendrah Butler-Waters

Kendrah Butler-Waters is a Philadelphia based pianist, violinist, vocalist, composer and educator. As a performer, this brilliant multi-instrumentalist combines jazz, classical, and gospel into a wonderfully woven sound that is all her own. Her original work has been featured on NPR, WRTI, PBS, WHYY and countless other media outlets. She was the Kimmel Center’s 2015-2016 Jazz resident, a featured artist at the Cape May and Lancaster Avenue Jazz festivals and was commissioned to compose a score for Philadelphia poet laureates, Yolanda Wisher and Trapeta. She is currently completing a commission with Yolanda Wisher and architect and visual artist Nina Cooke-John called “uCity,” dedicated to residents in West Philadelphia.
