How the arts can create a home away from home
Libby Harwitz has been a member of the Settlement community for over 60 years. From violin lessons as a child, to a parent of two Settlement students to now, a grandparent of a Settlement student – Libby has felt the positive effects of being a Settlement alumna. She met her childhood best friend at Settlement and they remain close to this day. Libby remains active in the Settlement community; she served as a member of the Board of Trustees for over a decade, most recently as the President of the Mary Louise Curtis Branch board. Libby’s passion for Settlement is evident, “Settlement provides students with gifts that become increasingly meaningful with age and time: a deep understanding of music, the mastery of an instrument, the cultivation of a voice, the development of self-confidence…as a lifelong SMS beneficiary, I am eternally grateful.”
