A born and bred Philadelphian, Andreia completed her Bachelor of Music at Ithaca College in upstate NY, studying with both Philip Clark and Debra Moree, only to return to Philly to study at Temple University with Helen Kwalwasser, where she received her M.M. in String Pedagogy. Andreia has been a violin faculty member at Settlement Music School since 1994, specializing in one-on-one violin lessons, coaching chamber music, and teaching Suzuki Group classes. Along with helping her students build strong fundamentals, she is passionate about getting kids to explore and develop their creative expression. In 2012, Andreia co-founded Philalea, a chamber music ensemble devoted to piano trios, a genre she’s loved since her teenage years. Since 2015, Andreia has been traveling to Northern Vermont every summer to continue pursuing her love of chamber music by coaching and performing for the Vermont Music and Arts Center (VMAC).
