Caryn began working as a music therapist at Settlement Music School in 2014 after 12 years at Kardon Institute for Arts Therapy, including 9 years as a full-time clinician. She has experience working with a range of clients including people with developmental disabilities, brain injuries, Alzheimer’s, dementia, mental illnesses and autism spectrum disorders. Caryn developed and continues to manage the therapeutic rock band to better meet the social, emotional and musical needs of several clients. Part of Caryn’s weekly schedule is spent at the off-site partnership with Widener Memorial School. She also supervises Master’s level students from Drexel University’s Creative Arts in Therapy Program. Prior to her work as a music therapist, Caryn was employed as a private school music educator and freelance horn player. Caryn’s education includes a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from James Madison University, a Master of Music in Horn Performance from Florida State University, a Master of Arts from the Hahnemann Creative Arts in Therapy Program at Drexel University and certification as a Neurological Music Therapist. She is also a Licensed Professional Counselor in PA.
