Denise Nix has been an Early Childhood Educator and music teaching professional for over 35 years. She earned an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education with High Honors from the Community College of Philadelphia, and while attending there, she earned the Phi Theta Kappa and National Hispanic Honor Society awards.
Denise is the founder of Denise’s Young Musicians & Performing Arts Studio, a home-based teaching studio where she teaches piano, violin, flute, guitar, and percussion to children and teens. Her studio has a professional Facebook page of over 500 followers where she has become most well-known for her patient, creative, and nurturing work with very young children. Her studio has served numerous families in her local community for almost 10 years.
Denise Nix is deeply committed to teaching children’s music, and her studio has provided musical scholarships, presented award ceremonies, and hosted solo concerts for the students in her studio. She has also written, directed, and produced several children’s plays and music recitals for her students at the Venice Island Performing Arts Theatre in Manayunk.
Denise has studied the Suzuki Piano Method with two of the founding members of the Kingston Suzuki Music Association, Valery Lloyd-Watts and Carole Bigler. Denise also trained under Irina Gorin, one of the most prominent piano pedagogues for children in the United States, who uses a unique blend of Russian and American piano teaching methods.
A licensed KiddyKeys piano instructor and member of the Piano Teachers Federation, Denise Nix is also the creator and founder of “BittyStrings”, her program for very young violin students from ages 2 and up.
As a former Childcare Director, Denise has had a wide range of experiences in the field of early childhood education.
Denise has volunteered many years as a Children’s Face Painter for public libraries, foster care agencies, and the Chestnut Hill Fall for the Arts Festivals. She currently serves on a women’s ensemble choir, and she is the children’s handbell choir director at her local church.
Denise is the proud mom of 3 talented young adult sons, one of whom performs the leading role of Lafayette/
Jefferson in the prestigious musical Hamilton. She enjoys preparing southern cuisine, crafting, writing, illustrating children’s books, and vlogging for her new YouTube channel.
