Dolly Krasnopolsky was born in the USSR and graduated from Moldova State Conservatory in Kishinev with a Bachelors and Master’s Degree in Performing, Accompaniment, Education. Dolly has also had further training at the Moscow State Pedagogical University and at the Lithuanian State Conservatory, now known as The Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. She was awarded the gold medal for Best Teacher in USSR for her outstanding work for preparing students. Many of Dolly’s students have gone on to win numerous competitions and awards. She earned her PhD in the study of Bach from the State University of Vilnius. Dolly arrived in Philadelphia in 1989 and began work as a faculty member at Settlement Music School. In 2012, Settlement awarded her with the Schoenberg Award for Teaching Excellence. Since then, many of her students have graduated from prestigious universities and have pursued music careers. Such notable students of hers is Quiara Alegría Hudes, who won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
