Manager of Community Partnerships and Director of Settlement Music Online
Elisabeth Oosthuizen (BMus, Voice, Temple University) has taught voice lessons for ten years around the Phialdelphia region. Her teaching technique relies just as heavily on her own experience performing in musical theatre, opera, and in a chorale setting as it does the Bel Canto technique. She sets goals that are reachable for her students but makes sure to keep them challenged and growing as performers, vocalists, and individuals. She believes that an excellent sound can only come from an excellent foundation, and from maintaining excellent vocal health. This, along with a knack for quick diagnosis of vocal issues and simple explanations on how to fix them makes her a strong teacher for both beginners and advanced students, and everyone in between.
Elisabeth’s most recent performance was with the Spotliters Performance Group, starring as Caitlin O’Hare in their production of “Over the River and Through the Woods.” She has had numerous performance opportunities in both the classical and musical theatre worlds, has been featured as a performer in local telethons, and has appeared in choral performances all over Philadelphia. Elisabeth was also the head of the voice department of the Cherry Hill, NJ location of the New Jersey School of Music, and taught at both locations of the Cunningham Music School (which she also worked at as the Founder and Director).
