Faculty

Pianist Ellie Taylor is an alum of Settlement Music School and is thrilled to return as a faculty member. Her major teachers include Sandra Carlock at Settlement Music School, Dr. Dmitri Shteinberg at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, and Dr. Barbara Lister-Sink at Salem College. Ellie’s training at Salem College centered around both classical piano performance and the Lister-Sink Method of injury-preventive technique for keyboardists, and she is passionate about teaching her own students to play the piano in a way that is most efficient and healthy for the body. Lessons with Ellie often include rhythm games, practical music theory exercises, and improvisation, giving her students plenty of opportunity to engage creatively with the music they’re learning. Her goal as a teacher is to create a joyful learning environment, through which her students can develop a lifelong love for music.
