Piano Faculty

Sarah Kauphusman is a classical pianist and teacher originally from Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. She holds a BM in Applied Piano from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire and is currently working toward her MM in Piano Performance at Temple University under Dr. Sara Davis Buechner.

In both playing and teaching, her primary aim is to evoke joy and connection, as well as a sense of child-like wonder in people of all ages. Other goals include promoting music written by under-represented composers and working to make classical music more accessible and approachable. To this end, Sarah is currently performing a series of children’s concerts in Philadelphia’s elementary schools, parks, and community venues, which combine both standard and less popular repertoire with whimsical and engaging stories. Ultimately, Sarah hopes to use community-based teaching, creative programming, and unconventional concert ideas to help reinvigorate the general public’s love for classical music
