After completing a Bachelor of Music degree in Flute Performance at Chapman University, mezzo-soprano Susan Rheingans earned a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from California State University, Los Angeles. Susan performed extensively as a classical singer across the United States and in Europe and Asia, before settling in Pennsylvania and pursuing a teaching career. Susan continues to perform on the east coast in opera, concert and musical theater. Her post-graduate education includes seminars in Contemporary Commercial Music pedagogy at Shenandoah University and Musical Theater pedagogy at Penn State University.

Susan emphasizes strong vocal technique and the development of musical and interpretive skills in her studio, and her students perform in a number of different styles, including classical and musical theater. Her high school-age students are frequently awarded vocal scholarships, win in competition, participate in high school apprentice programs, are chosen for City, District, Regional and State honor choirs and perform leading roles in school musicals. Pre-professional students have been accepted into major conservatory and university vocal programs and have been awarded vocal merit scholarships, and adult students successfully participate in a number of community musical activities.
