Zachary Poyatt graduated from the University of the Arts in 2009 with a BM in Jazz Guitar Performance. There he studied with Scott McGill, Tom Giacobetti, and Matt Davis, and participated in masterclasses with Jimmy Bruno, Vic Juris, and Pat Martino. While in high school, he was a student of Gerry Kunkel, guitar chair at the University of Maryland College Park, and took piano and theory lessons from Dr. Mark Cook, director of music theory and composition at Shepherd University. Zachary has played with a wide variety of Philadelphia bands and enjoys teaching a range of styles including jazz standards, funk, pop-rock, folk, and traditional music. Most recently, he performed a top 40 pop repertoire for four years at Howl At The Moon, totaling over 1,000 shows. Zachary loves Philadelphia and enjoys spending time with the friends he has met through the vibrant music community in the city.
