Philadelphia Business Journal Recognizes Settlement’s Veronica Plousis as a 2021 CFO of the Year
We are thrilled to announce that the Philadelphia Business Journal has named Settlement Music School’s Veronica (Roni) Plousis to its CFO of the Year Class of 2021!
This year’s honorees were selected from the local business community based on contributions to the company’s growth and/or profitability, tenure and scope of responsibilities, leadership, success in overcoming business challenges, respect and influence within the company, and community involvement. The Philadelphia Business Journal recognizes CFOs in the region who have risen to the challenge not just this past year, but throughout their careers.
Since joining Settlement in 2016, Roni has been a passionate steward of Settlement’s fiscal resources. She is a dynamic leader with expertise in improving systems to increase efficiencies while utilizing innovative approaches to cost savings. Throughout her five years at Settlement, she has played key roles in eliminating 50% of the School’s long-term debt, gradually increasing the School’s minimum wage from $7/hour to $15/hour, directing the School’s digital conversion of accounting, payroll, registration, and human resource systems, and navigating the many financial challenges of the 2020-2021 pandemic, which was instrumental in maintaining hundreds of employee salaries.
“I am so honored to be part of this year’s class of CFO honorees,” said Roni. “I am looking forward to continuing to make an impact at Settlement as we move through these uncertain but very exciting times working with our leadership team, staff, faculty, and students.”
“Roni’s financial acumen and collaborative leadership style have cultivated a culture of transparent and shared financial decision-making throughout the organization, ensuring we can continue to enhance the services we provide and improve access to the arts in the communities we serve,” said Settlement Music School CEO Helen Eaton.
Roni will be recognized in a virtual event with all other honorees on Thursday, July 29, and a special Philadelphia Business Journal publication on July 30.
