Settlement Summer and Fall 2021 Update

An important message from the Chief Executive Officer of Settlement Music School

Dear Settlement Music School Community,

We hope that you are doing well and staying safe and healthy during this time.

As more and more in-person instruction has returned to our branches this summer, we have loved hearing our halls and studios begin to resonate once again with the sounds of discovery and inspiration. This September, we plan to be fully open for in-person instruction for all instruments and ensembles while keeping our mask mandate in place.  Of course, we will also continue to offer virtual lessons and classes, and so there are many options available to continue your music and dance instruction!

Whether you have been participating virtually, in person, or via a hybrid schedule with us, it has been a pleasure having you as a member of our special creative community. Together, we filled last year with unforgettable learning, and we are so excited for another year of your amazing art.  And if you paused your lessons last year, we look forward to seeing you again to continue your artistic journey. If you are hoping to join us for the first time in the fall, welcome to your new creative home! Here at Settlement, our students are the stars. We will always be here to assist and inspire in any way we can.

Below are some important dates to keep in mind:

Individual instruction for the fall season begins on Thursday, September 9, and the first week of ensembles and classes for the season is Monday, September 20.

We have adopted COVID-19 policies and procedures, which can be read on our website. All those who enter our branch buildings must follow and familiarize themselves with the School’s policies, including those who are fully vaccinated. If you have any questions or concerns, or would like to talk further, please reach out to us at any time. If Settlement Music School closes for in-person teaching or we alter building schedules due to recommendations made by the CDC, State of Pennsylvania, and/or the City of Philadelphia, we will move all of our programs to our distance learning platforms. Settlement always provides the highest quality creative arts education for all, whether in person or through distance learning, and recognizes the importance of providing a consistent, sequential education for our students.

We are so proud of the extraordinary work our faculty, staff, and students have done over the past year and we look forward to another fantastic year ahead.

If you have any questions, please contact our branch staff. We are happy to help!

Please stay well,

Helen Eaton
CEO, Settlement Music School
