Spring 2022 COVID-19 Update

Dear Settlement Music School Community,

We hope that you and your family are enjoying the start of spring!

With the lifting of Philadelphia’s recent mask mandate, COVID-19 case counts leveling off, and a decrease in COVID-19 hospitalizations in the City, Settlement has transitioned to a mask-optional phase in our studios, classrooms, rehearsal spaces, and offices.

Masking will continue to be required in all of our public spaces and for those in our Children’s Music Workshop, Kaleidoscope, and Kaleidoscope Plus programming.

Our number one priority continues to be keeping our Settlement community safe. Please keep these key points in mind as we enter into this next phase together.

  • Masks will still be required in all public spaces inside our buildings, including lobbies, front desks, hallways, restrooms, etc. for the near future.
  • Our policy of prohibiting eating in lobbies will remain in place.
  • For all spaces where mask wearing may be optional, if there is a person who would like for masks to be worn, then masks will be required.
  • Audience members will still be required to wear masks at performances. If the performer and accompanist would like to remove their masks on stage, they may do so. If a performer or accompanist prefers to perform in a mask, then both will do so.
  • Hand sanitizing stations and hand washing signage will remain in all of our buildings as our facilities team continues to maintain clean and healthy buildings. It is critical that we all continue to follow all other health and safety measures such as:
    • Stay home if you are sick.
    • Get tested if you are showing COVID-like symptoms.
    • Quarantine if you test positive for COVID-19.
    • Promptly report positive COVID-19 test results to your Branch Director.
    • You can find a vaccination site near you at vaccines.gov.
  • In the event of a sharp increase in COVID-19 cases in our region, we may return to temporary, mandatory mask wearing as an extra precaution in minimizing the risk of COVID-19 within our buildings.
  • Settlement’s COVID-19 policies and procedures can be found on our website.

Whether you have been participating in person, virtually, or via a hybrid schedule with us, it has been a pleasure having you as a member of our special creative community. Together, we filled another year with unforgettable learning, and we are so excited to start summer session with you and your family! If you paused your lessons, we look forward to seeing you again to continue your artistic journey. If you are hoping to join us for the first time, welcome to your new creative home! Here at Settlement, our students are the stars. We will always be here to assist and inspire in any way we can.

Thank you for your continued support and cooperation throughout the pandemic in keeping safe, healthy spaces for us all. We look forward to seeing more of your smiles in our studios, classrooms, and rehearsal spaces!

Please stay well,

Helen Eaton
