Legacy Gifts and the Cadenza Society

Settlement Music School is especially grateful to the growing number of friends who ensure that their tradition of support continues well into the future by providing for the School through their estate plans.

The Cadenza Society thanks and recognizes those who have chosen to make an investment for the future of Settlement Music School through their wills, life insurance, or other deferred gifts.

As a member, you will receive invitations to special events and an annual celebration of the Cadenza Society.

Your participation sets an important example for others, and awareness of your intentions will help Settlement Music School plan for the future and maintain our financial security. Most importantly, you will have the satisfaction of making a final and lasting expression of support and creating a legacy of transforming lives and making a difference in the world through music education.

Gifts from your IRA

Are you 70 ½ years of age or older? Please consider taking advantage of an opportunity to reduce your taxable income while supporting Settlement Music School with an IRA Charitable Rollover Gift.

The Qualified Charitable Distribution from an IRA allows donors 70 ½ years or older to make gifts directly to Settlement Music School and not include the amount gifted as taxable income. An IRA Charitable Rollover Gift can satisfy some or all of your annual Required Minimum Distribution, and reducing your taxable income could provide a variety of tax savings opportunities.

If you qualify, please consider using these funds to support Settlement’s programs that benefit thousands of students each year.

Donor Story
The Settlement Impact

Nancy Halpern treasured her decades of Wednesday nights at Settlement Music School’s Mary Louise Curtis Branch singing alongside community singers in the Mendelssohn Club of Philadelphia . When it came time to consider the legacy she wanted to leave behind, she looked to Settlement to honor the role music has played in her life. “Music became a part of my life when I was young, and it built me, as a performer and as an audience member.  Settlement Music School is a pure educational experience that children can have access to, and where there are so many opportunities. That is a wonderful thing, and it should always be supported. “
