Chamber Music at Philadelphia Youth Orchestra Music Institute

Our Partnership

This collaborative program offers new chamber ensemble opportunities to students enrolled in select PYOMI ensembles.

The program, rooted in the excellence of Settlement Music School’s nationally recognized Joseph and Marie Field Chamber Music Program, combines with PYOMI’s renowned ensemble training to challenge students to take ownership of their musical roles while developing essential skills in listening, leadership, and ensemble collaboration.

Offered at the Walter R. Garrison Center at PYO Music Institute before and after existing rehearsals at PYOMI, the structure of this program allows students to participate in both large and small ensemble experiences without adding additional days to their schedules, an important benefit for busy families.

About PYOMI

The Philadelphia Youth Orchestra Music Institute (PYOMI) meets students where they are in their musical journey. From first orchestral experiences to advanced pre-professional training, PYOMI offers mentorship and growth at every step through guided rehearsals, master classes, and personalized development in orchestras, bands, jazz, brass, and strings. Students take the stage at prestigious venues, build lasting confidence, and form friendships and a community that will last for years to come.

The musicians of PYOMI come from a 70-mile radius of Philadelphia, encompassing nearly 20 counties within Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. Former PYOMI musicians currently hold chairs in most of the top 20 professional orchestras in the United States, with 10 PYO alumni currently serving in The Philadelphia Orchestra.
